How to Turn Quiet Followers Into TRUE Fans (no matter what you sell)

How to Turn Quiet Followers Into TRUE Fans (no matter what you sell)
Building a brand is a lot like raising a kid: consistency, presence, and a long game that actually matters.

They liked the post.
Watched the story.
Maybe even sent you a quiet DM once, saying “This really spoke to me.”

And then…

Nothing.

No reply. No share. No sale.
Just digital tumbleweed.

If you’re building a brand online, you know this feeling too well.
It’s like performing to a room full of people who are watching, but not clapping.

I first learned this lesson in a basement venue in South London.
No budget. No PR. Just a cheap camera and a young artist nobody knew yet...

(Spoiler: her name was Kacey Musgraves.)

That day, 14 people showed up outside.
3 stuck around to talk afterwards...

(Don't forget if you're a paying subscriber there is a full video walkthrough of how this method in action, so we can start designing your funnel today)

But those 3?
They became superfans.
They told their friends. Bought tickets. Shared every video.
And they were still around years later, when the rest of the world caught on.

I didn’t have a name for it then.
But what I was building was what I now call the TRUE Fan Funnel.

And over the last decade, I’ve adapted it for artists, educators, coaches, founders, and creatives with something real to say—but no idea how to say it online.

Because the truth is:

You don’t need more views.
You need more depth.

You don’t need 100,000 followers.
You need 100 people who actually get it.

Let’s break it down.

The simple TRUE Fan Funnel

Stage 1: Attention

The top of the funnel is visibility.
It’s social media. Content. Algorithms.
The place where most people stop.

This is where your audience first discovers you.

But here’s the catch: a follower is not a fan.
And someone who liked your post isn’t necessarily someone who will buy from you.

A lot of experts, founders and creatives keep chasing visibility—
but visibility without connection is just noise.

Your job is not to be seen by everyone.
It’s to be remembered by the right ones.

Stage 2: Invitation

This is the first shift.
From stranger to subscriber.

Here’s where you stop relying on algorithms and start owning your relationship with your audience.

That means inviting people off social and into your world
your list, your ecosystem, your container.

But not just with a “join my newsletter” link.

Give them a reason.
A voice note. A story. A small freebie that actually helps.
For me right now it's my brand backstory training. Yours could be a powerful piece of content. A behind-the-scenes look at your process.

Something that says:
“I see you. This is for you.”

To get social right you have to start with story this is where mapping your Brand Backstory becomes your most important next step. You can do that with me here (for free)

Stage 3: Nurture

This is the step most people skip.
And it’s the one that makes the biggest difference.

Once someone’s in your world, what happens next?

If the answer is “nothing until I have something to promote”, you’re leaving a lot of trust on the table.

Nurture is about continuing the conversation.

It doesn’t mean emailing every day or turning into a content robot.
It means sharing ideas. Insights. Curated content.
Letting your people see what you stand for—before you ever ask for the sale.

Show up before you sell.
Make it feel like a relationship, not a broadcast.

This is how strangers become supporters.
And how supporters become true fans.

Stage 4: Conversion

This is where offers land.

But here’s the shift: you’re not pushing.
You’re inviting.

By this point, your audience already knows you.
They understand what you do. They feel something when they read your words.

Whether your offer is a £10 workshop or a £10K retainer, the right people are ready.

Because you’ve done the work to connect, not just perform.

The Exit (that isn’t really an exit)

This is the quiet power of the TRUE Fan Funnel:
You don’t need everyone to stay. In fact, most won’t.

But the ones who do?
They’re the ones who will share, support, buy, re-buy, and refer you without needing a 14-step sales sequence.

They’ll fund your work, fuel your growth, and keep coming back—
because they feel like they’re part of something.

And they are.

The TL;DR:

If you’re tired of shouting into the void…
If you’re exhausted from chasing likes that don’t lead to anything…
If you know your work is good but your brand doesn’t reflect it yet...

You don’t need more content.
You need a better system.

The TRUE Fan Funnel is not about performance.
It’s about presence.

And you don’t need to be a musician to use it.
